Toss Chennai Super Kings chose to bowl v Kings XI Punjab
Searching for a big win to secure fourth spot – and playoff qualification – Kings XI Punjab were asked to bat by Chennai Super Kings in the tournament’s final league game.
Kings XI are currently seventh on 12 points, and have a net run rate of -0.490. For them to have any chance of qualification, Kings XI need to beat CSK by more than 53 runs to overtake Rajasthan Royals, who are currently placed at fourth.
CSK, on the other hand, are still not assured of a top-two finish. If MS Dhoni’s men lose by 76 runs, then they would drop to third place on the virtue of net run rate.
Kings XI made two changes: Yuvraj Singh and Marcus Stoinis were replaced by David Miller and Karun Nair. For CSK, Faf du Plessis replaced Shane Watson.
Chennai Super Kings: 1 Faf du Plessis, 2 Ambati Rayudu, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 5 Sam Billings, 6 Ravindra Jadeja, 7 Dwayne Bravo, 8 Deepak Chahar, 9 Harbhajan Singh, 10 Shardul Thakur, 11 Lungi Ngidi
